Material Properties & Composition
eSun ABS-CF is an advanced thermoplastic filament that combines durable acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) with approximately 8% chopped carbon fiber reinforcement to create a high-performance composite material. The carbon fiber addition significantly enhances the filament's mechanical properties, achieving a flexural modulus of 2,694 MPa (an 82% increase over standard ABS) and a flexural strength of 76 MPa (representing a 65% improvement). This material has a density of 1.10 g/cm³ and tensile strength of 75 MPa, while maintaining the chemical resistance and temperature tolerance characteristics inherent to ABS plastics.

Applications & Use Cases
This versatile filament excels in demanding applications requiring superior strength-to-weight ratios, including automotive components, aerospace parts, engineering prototypes, and structural elements where metal replacement is desired. The material is particularly well-suited for manufacturing drone frames, propellers, tooling fixtures, jigs, and industrial housings where dimensional stability and impact resistance are critical. eSun ABS-CF is compatible with most FDM 3D printers but requires specific printing conditions including nozzle temperatures of 240-270°C, heated bed temperatures of 90-110°C, and preferably an enclosed printing environment to minimize warping.

Advantages & Considerations
The primary advantages of eSun ABS-CF include its enhanced rigidity, reduced warpage compared to standard ABS, and distinctive matte finish that minimizes visible layer lines while providing a professional appearance. The carbon fiber reinforcement delivers improved dimensional accuracy through reduced shrinkage and better interlayer bonding, making prints more structurally sound and reliable. However, users must consider that the abrasive carbon fibers require hardened steel, brass-plated, or other wear-resistant nozzles to prevent rapid nozzle degradation, and the material benefits from controlled printing environments with minimal part cooling for optimal results.
